Congratulations to Alice Pope, who has recently completed a successful three year partnership project between WDCS, the University of Aberdeen and the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP).

The aim of the KTP partnership (which was initiated with Tess Gridley, and then successfully taken up by Alice) was to translate complex scientific studies to better understand and protect the bottlenose dolphins to WDCS Wildlife Centre visitors in Scotland. During her time as the KTP Officer, Alice Pope (who has now joined WDCS as our Scottish Conservation Officer), successfully developed innovative techniques that enabled us to explain our important scientific field work to 10,000’s of visitors to the WDCS Wildlife Centres, as well as our staff and valuable volunteers.

A visit to our Spey Bay Wildlife Centre is now a more wonderful and rewarding experience than ever – thanks to Alice’s work, you can watch for dolphins using the same scientific techniques that we do and even listen for them on our live underwater microphone!

The case study report on the KTP is available here
